![]() No matter what age, gender or skills level Tag Rugby is suitable for everyone. The game is designed to be non-contact and is a great variation of the full game of Rugby League as it lends itself to both a purely social game as well as a competitive one. In 2008 the first ever Tag Merit League competition was launched and all the competing teams are always on the look out for new players.
A team must all wear identical tags that conform to minimum standards. Each player must wear two tags that hang freely from the belt (not wrapped around) and must not be obscured by the playing shirt. The tags should be of a contrasting colour to the shirt and shorts. The game should be aimed to be played with seven players per side, but may be increased or reduced by prior agreement between the teams. Interchanges can only take place when a team in possession of the football. A standard game will take place over half a full sized rugby pitch, playing 2 x 20 minute halves with a five minute interval. Text and pictures from www.therfl.co.uk |

Masters is strictly a social version of the sport and the rules are slightly modified to cater for the older player. There are no winners, no champions and no cup finals. Masters is about is the spirit of the game. The most important rule is “everyone has to buy a drink for their opposite number.”Rule Modifications: Just like the full version of the game Masters is 13 a-side, however rule modifications include:
White or black shorts: Players to tackle each other normally. Red shorts: Players must be physically stopped and held. On defence, red short players must make a definite two handed hold on the attacker. Gold shorts: Players to tackle or be tackled need to just touch, ie. Developed in France back in 2000, Wheelchair Rugby League was introduced to our shores back in 2005. The game is quite unique in that it offers both disabled and non-disabled players the opportunity to compete both with and against each other. No matter what gender or age all players compete on level playing field which is created by the use of wheelchairs and some slight adaptions of the rules of Rugby League.
