champion_schools_logoThe last two weeks have saw High schools from across North Yorkshire battle it out in the local rounds of Rugby League’s Champion Schools competition. There were over 700 pupils who took part in the North Yorkshire competition from year 7’s to 11’s. This is a massive increase from last years competition which saw 400 pupils take part. This shows the competition is growing year on year and rugby league is developing in different parts of North Yorkshire.

The head of PE and driving force behind Rugby at Settle Anthony Shepherd is moving on – forming a need for a new generation of coaches to continue the schools excellent record in Champ Schools.

 

Sophie Morley (PE teacher) and Lauren Stallwood (age 16, currently sitting GCSE’s) are taking a level 1 coaching badge so they can learn some skills to develop students at the college.
